Choosing nursing as a career mainly sought to fulfill a childhood dream I had of having a positive impact on others, with healthcare being a sure way of enhancing the lives of those seeking such services. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in various healthcare settings, but it is in geriatrics that I found my true calling. In this area, I understand that patients require love, compassion and respect as the basis of the care offered to them.

Over the years, I have honed multiple skills. I possess extensive knowledge in patient advocacy, administering medications, patient education, and wound care. I am a Daisy Award recipient and my 28 years of experience are capped with a BSN. These skills, combined with my excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, allow me to build strong relationships with both my patients and their families.

My practice guide is set under the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality, dignity, and respect. It is my belief that patients deserve a place where they are treated with empathy and kindness. This only comes with experience in various sectors, an attribute I have mastered over my career. I have learned to constantly provide a safe and nurturing environment that allows my patients to feel heard, understood, and loved.

I consider caring for the elderly as a critical part of any professional nursing setting. They deserve the best care as they age. I hold this dear to me because I once worked as an assistant director for a nursing home and how I saw the elderly patients treated made me resolve to open a place where they can be treated with dignity, comfort and joy. The sunset years are important and everyone deserves a chance to receive utmost care, support and attention.
